description Take the Virtual Tour! - CHENANGO VALLEY STATE PARK Chenango Valley State Park's two kettle lakes, Lily and Chenango, were created when the last Ice Age glacier retreated and left behind huge chunks of buried ice, which melted to form the lakes and bog. The park is popular with birdwatchers, who may glimpse woodpeckers, nut hatches, warblers, and thrushes along woodland trails; and herons, ducks, and kingfishers lakeside. Fishermen will find trout, bass, perch, and bullhead in Chenango Lake. Golfers will appreciate the 18-hole golf course, while wintertime visitors enjoy ice skating, sledding, and cross-country skiing.

importantInformation Each year the campground makes every effort to provide safe swimming opportunities by testing the water and by keeping the swimming areas staffed with lifeguards. Please be aware that if the safety of our swimmers is compromised, due to lack of lifeguard coverage or water quality issues, swimming will be prohibited and therefore cannot be a guaranteed activity. We apologize for this inconvenience as it may occur with little advance notice. See HERE for all current swimming closures! Chenango Valley is open for day-use year round. Camping at the park is available from mid May to Mid-October. To insure fairness for all NY customers, any reservation with departure dates outside the 9-month Maximum Window can not be changed or cancelled until 18 days after the reservation was made. IMPORTANT: New York State Parks encourages everyone to be safe outdoors. Please take a few moments to read about the health risks associated with tick bites and some simple steps you can take to safeguard you and your family. http://www.governor.ny.gov/press/04092014Ticks Bear Notice: Be advised that you will be camping in bear country. Please do not leave food, garbage, coolers or other containers unattended as these items are an attractant to bears. Please keep fire pits clean by not burning garbage in them. Literature regarding Chenango Valley State Park's wildlife policy will be given out upon check-in. If your site allows for pets, only 2 per site are permitted. Current rabies certificate required. Pets must be on a leash no longer than 6ft at all times. Bike helmets are required for children under 14 years of age. Rollerblades, rollerskates or skateboards are not allowed at the park. Camper must be 18 years of age or older to get a permit. A small number of campsites offer electric. Water is NOT available on any campsite. Quiet hours are from 10 p.m. until 7 a.m. Smoking is not permitted in the cabins. Smoking is also prohibited in all park rental buildings, pavilions, and in the swimming/playground areas. During peak season, a camping party and their equipment may occupy a site for a maximum of 14 continuous days. After which, the camping party and equipment must leave the site and facility for 2 days before registering again for another site.
